Rebecca Slenes'03 Receives Fulbright Award

Congratulations to Rebecca Slenes'03 who has been awarded a Fulbright U.S. Student scholarship to Morocco in Womens' Studies.
 
In addition to the Fulbright Grant Rebecca received a Critical Language Enhancement Award (CLEA), also sponsored by the Department of State. This grant will allow her to study Arabic for 5 months.
Rebecca will be in Morocco for a year. She arrived in September and is living in the historic city of Fez with a Moroccan family. She lives in the old part of the city, the medina, in a 500 year old house. She is currently studying Moroccan Arabic and Classical Arabic intensively
for three months prior to beginning her Fulbright research grant in December. Her research will look at women's use of the formal legal system and of informal support networks of resolving family conflict.
